Wolverhampton Society of Artists Jarvis Prize Illustration 2026
My name is Neve Francis. I am an Illustrator Image Maker, Visual Artist based and brought up in the West Midlands, Wolverhampton, born in 2005.
I started drawing in 2008 where I first found my creative passion for art and creativity. Drawing being beside myself through hardships and communicating visuals, drawings speaking for themselves.
In 2016 throughout education, I went on to taking art and design in secondary school always devoting my time and efforts into the subjective following it through to sixth form.
In 2023 I became a student at the University of Wolverhampton and stared to professionally develop my practice learning new skills techniques and experimentation which broadened my knowledge and understanding. Graduating in 2026 I received two awards in recognition and was welcomed into the Society of Artists in late 2026 becoming better acquainted with the community in Wolverhampton.
I use traditional digital and Mixed Media formats, and I have experimented with a variety of mediums throughout my professional practice. Traditional drawing, sketches will always outweigh and be a customary’s choice of favourite self expression closer to me. With traditional drawing I like the process of development, developing my sketches through contrasting my techniques collage and draw over existing pieces.
I Specialise in drawing characters and visualising stories that can hold a mirror up to society. I am drawn to work from daily life. My work follows social commentary, and character based it is rooted in observation of human behaviour. Best known for chaotic sketch-led drawings which occasionally adopt a deliberately childlike quality.
Highlights in everyday situations documenting observations of daily life, social ankienes and raw human nature. With a Particular focus on Interpersonal Interactions. Documentation and observation of daily life is an important part of my inner essence as an artist waking up everyday and capturing life.
