When you elected me a year ago, I said suggested we should see how the year went and then decide if we wanted to continue with our arrangement. Well, I have enjoyed the last year and no one has told me they’d like a change so, thank you all for your support.
During the year, there have been a number of successful and interesting meetings at Bantock Tractor Shed and also Painting Days. Many thanks are due to Rita Jukes and to the committee members for facilitating these.
The exhibition at Weston Park was still running when we held our last AGM and I am looking forward to the next one in October. Invitations to submit your work will be circulated before long so, let’s make this another outstanding show.
I have been particularly pleased with the response to the ‘Small Wonders’ project. I think the resulting exhibition uses WAG Spotlight Space exceptionally well and all the comments I have seen and heard have been positive. We are fortunate that, because of a legacy from June Ramsell, we were able to afford the cost of framing all the work in the same way which has been so important to the presentation. Many thanks to Jacky Fellows for her work on this project.
We are fortunate to have a very conscientious committee, Chair and Honorary Secretary to whom we certainly owe our gratitude. Without them this Society would not function. So, if you value the WSA, and the fact that you’re here suggests that you do, please think about how you can help to keep it
Our Chair Carol Widenbar is stepping down and we owe her our thanks for all her hard work and commitment over her term of office. Thanks also to Norm Keech for taking over that role.
In other news, I’m sure you will be interested to know that our member Ed Isaacs was recently installed as President of the RBSA continuing the active involvement of members of this Society in that body.
In conclusion, I would like to reiterate my appeal to you all to help by taking on a role in running the WSA. This is very important to me because; joining this Society and becoming involved in its running, was a major factor in giving me the impetus that enabled me to see a way to progress with my art activities and helped me find places to show my work beyond Wolverhampton.
