Remarkably Wightwick Manor was in the first group of three properties taken on by the National Trust under the auspices of the Country House scheme in 1937, remarkable as the House was only fifty years old. Once the House’s future was secured with the Trust, Sir Geoffrey and Lady Mander actively sought out the descendants of the Pre-Raphaelite artists and Morris family to build connections and networks, developing a large and idiosyncratic collection.
We welcome Helen Bratt-Wyton, Wightwick Manor’s Senior Collections and House Manager, who will lead us through some of the fascinating connections made and items acquired which has led Wightwick to be designated as one of the National Trusts Treasure Houses.
